Billy Lane DUI, Some thoughts

When I first heard the news that Billy Lane had killed a guy on a moped while he was illegally (double yellow line) passing, I believe, two cars I was livid. A lot of blogs and forums were filled with posts about how we all have to wait for the details to come out before we crucify him.

Fair enough. The details are now out. This punk-ass mofo was drunk. In fact, he was more than twice over the legal limit when he blasted his truck head on into the path of 56-year-old Melbourne Beach resident Gerald Morelock. Of course Billy was not only drunk, he also resisted a blood alcohol test. Hmmm..I wonder if the fact that he was already waiting trial in North Carolina for a previous DUI had anything to do with it. Or maybe it was that he was driving with a suspended license? Just a thought.

I'm fed up with this cult of celebrity that this country feeds on where anyone feels they can get away with anything because of their celebrity status.

We'll see how this plays out but as of now, Mr Lane is up for manslaughter. I hope he gets the same punishment any drunken slob would get who killed someone in a wreck.

I'm sick of Billy Lane. I hope this guy spends whatever time in jail that anyone else would get. And even that wouldn't be enough. Loser.

honestly, i have no clue why people even care about Billy lane, OCC, bla bla bla bla, They all build rollin easter egss that will never have more then 2 digits on the odometer. Their bikes LOOK good, but thats all. Even if you can afford one of those damn bikes, chances are you wont ride it long, or a lot at all, and on top of that, most of the time theylook shity anyhow. I hope Billy gets nailed to the wall for this. I hate drunk drivers, and he is a murderer now. I hope he can live with the shit he has done. Cuz hell knows i couldnt.

I would never wish this upon anyone and my remorse goes to the victims family as well as billy's. It is not an easy case and everytime they go to court the wounds open up again. I dont know much about him, but what ive had read and as a reader it seems like hes in denial. Be a man be honest you already did enough damage to that family as well as yours. Stop thinking about yourself for once in your life. I bet it kills them everyday knowing you are taking your time with this case to avoid the correct punishment. Florida law says dui manslaughter up to 10 years and you have to do 85% of you sentencing so that comes out to 8. The state attorney can push for more. But no amount of money can free the truth which is you were drunk and you drove and you killed someone you took a life and that my friend cant buy your way out. DUi lawyer charges 75,000 and up for that kinda case and bail for dui manslaughter is the same 75,000. So why not guilty? This probably saved more time and grief if you plead guilty and show remorse im sure forgiveness would of been in your favor but they will never forget. I am a family memeber whos sibiling was convicted. My brother told the truth from day one, he was so ashamed that he could ever be involved in a horrible accident. He would never take a life or hurt a fly and you probably wouldnt either. I miss him everyday he is in for 10 years at 26 years old. Theres people out there with similar or worse stories that dont even have money. your not alone there will always be someone in front of you with a hard life to follow. I pray that he will be out soon and i pray for the victim to forgive him and RIP. At 26 and admitting to a crime like that thats huge courage - i admire him for that, and your fans and family will too just be honest and take the consequence. Good luck
